Buckatree Hall Hotel

Loved the place. We took a balcony room. Rooms could do with an update also our room the bathroom door handle was hanging off both side and missing barrel so unable to close properly. We we're offered another room but didn't really fancy transferring our stuff once settled. Other than that the dinning area and drinking area for later on drinks was chilled and comfy

The location is just perfect, beautiful surroundings in a quiet area so great for walkers too. There is on site parking. The grounds are nice. As I arrived, I was more than pleased at the visual. Once I entered it took over ten mins for someone to attend to do check in. No information given without asking. The room was pretty poor. It was cold, the water did not work effectively in the shower, so ended up with two cold showers. The room was very outdated and smelt. The balcony would have been great if the windows were not so dirty as were the chairs. There is nothing at the window so you are on full view or sit in the dark with the curtains closed. The reception on the TV was also pretty poor. Went for breakfast in the morning, following my cold shower. I was helping to older adults take their plates of food and drinks to their table as the staff were busy discussing their shifts and the manager. When I returned to the counter for my breakfast, I got to listen to the manager calling other staff who were not present. By which time my partner was helping another older person, who was having trouble as the staff were now discussing the new manager. I could see behind the counter and felt the staff or manager may have spend their time better cleaning up the area. The cooked breakfast was nice. There was limited choice and the fruit salad looked like it had been their for a week. The glasses and cutlery we cleaned before eating, which was viewed by the staff who did not say anything. After breakfast I was sat in the bar, and had a lovely time listening to the manager speaking with her boyfriend, which went on for quiet some time. Hardly surprising the running of the place and attitude of the staff, with this form of role model in place. I then went to check out and the person on the desk did not ask if everything was fine, in fact she did not bother to speak to me. I passed the key and explained I was checking out and she took the key! Needless to say, I can see the points made by other customers who no doubt feel the same way as myself and will not be returning.

I stayed at the Buckatree Hall Hotel at very short notice and late evening as my daughter had been admitted into Princess Royal Hospital. The room was a double, the bed very comfortable. Tea and coffee was available as well as a t.v. The room was on suite, clean and warm. I can not thank the lady on reception enough on 22/11/23 she was so helpful, and the lady who was on duty at breakfast time, her words were reassuring when I needed it. Happy to say my daughter gave birth on Sunday to a healthy baby girl.

Was part of a family party for a celebratory meal today so we were restaurant only customers and therefore cannot comment on rooms or hotel facilities. However, on the restaurant: the food was superb- we had Sunday carvery lunch. The meat and veg were perfectly-cooked, tasty (particularly the carrot and parsnip) and great value for money, too. The staff (particularly the chef) were friendly and helpful, making for an enjoyable family celebratory Sunday lunch. Would come here again, including considering as a place to stay based on my experience of the restaurant.
